I’ve got plenty of time, a little cash, and a desire to get some cheap tail lights for my car. No wrecking yard in my area has any 2012+ Mazda5s, but there are several in the KC metro area at various Pick n Pull lots, and they all seem to have just front end damage. . Gas is $1.44/gallon at Costco, and I can probably get out there and back, with a few hours for junking, in one day. I did check and the lots are open. One received a car on the 9th of March and got the other one on April 20th, so chances are that they’ll be pretty much intact. If necessary, a lot over in Kansas has one, and it’s not too far away from the ones in MO.
Places online want close to $100 for tail light section s, but these places sell them for $23; I might even try to talk them down since I only need half of the tail light (half is on the hatch, half on the body). I might even scrounge up a f ew other pieces whilst I’m there, although I can’t think of what I need at the moment; I’m sure it’ll come to me when I’m staring at a car.

That’s one of the most confusing map screen shots ever. It’s got the states Florida, California, the entire country of Mexico, apparently part of Poland, and is only 250 miles across somehow.

You can visit Athens and Rome in a few hours here in Georgia. We also have Savannah and Cumming depending on what sort of scenery you want. I’d take Savannah for the ocean and history.

I’ll always be easily delighted by such places. Christmas, FL. Florida, MA. Lebanon, VT. Etc etc.

We have a lot of terribly named cities in Missouri. My favorite is Licking MO, small town near one of my favorite fishing spots.

One of the side roads by my sister’s place out near Purdue has a stop sign and an intersection... The sign to the LEFT points to “Peru” and to the RIGHT points to “Mexico”. I’m always like “WTF>?? Did I have a stroke?”

A long drive over and back on 70 is far from an enjoyable drive. If you want a prettier drive that might take an hour more take 44 to 50, it goes through central mo.

True, but I just want to get it over with since I wasn’t planning on staying in KC overnight . Plus I’ve taken that drive down 44 plenty of times when teaching at Fort Leonard Wood and down in Springfield. 70 may be dull, but it’s a change of pace.

It’s not terrible. At least there aren’t long construction zones. Load up on some podcasts, snacks, drinks and make a day of it.

It definitely is. I grew up in Franklin County so spent a lot of time out in that part of the state.

I grew up in Jeff City, and we’ve always had lots of family in and around St. Louis.
